Why Do We Need Seasonal Maintenance?
Is home automation for me and what can I automate?
Home automation systems refer specifically to things in your home that can be programmed to run automatically. In the past, those were pretty basic - lamp timers, programmable thermostats, etc. but that's small potatoes thanks to the overabundance of smart home systems now aimed at average consumers such as ourselves.
Now, smart home products are immense, ranging from lights and locks to cameras and coffee makers. Some of the best home automation categories include light bulbs, switches, home security, door locks, cameras and climate control. The promise is that these smart home devices can save you time, money or make your life a little easier. For example, an automated lamp might turn on by itself as soon as you walk into the room. Or an automated thermostat might turn the heat down when it detects you've left for the day, then back on when it thinks you're on your way back. Home automation systems are the way of the future.
We’ve come a long way from mercury thermostats that require shutting one eye and adjusting the level oh-so-slightly or dial plug-in timer for our Christmas lights. We now allow you to have more home control, and you can relax a little more.
One other thing: don't ignore voice control. Alexa, Siri and the Google Assistant have proven to be capable smart home devices.
Just don’t say “'I see a little silhouetto of a man”….
